Developing still images - VDU Lesson 5(PMD3&4)

This video here is showing material that we have developed as a group. We have taken the aspect of the masquerade ball that shows the grotesque movement. We then start to move away from the suitcase which is representing a contagion and social media. We get to the wall and we are trying to stay near it and as far away from the 'suitcase' as possible but there is a force that is pulling us towards the contagion and this represents the two different hidden identities that lie between a person. Subtlety the laughter becomes screams and cries to try and get away.

I would develop this material by spending a little more time actually 'dancing' to convey the idea of being in a ball. Also I would experiment to see what it looked like if people transferred from the laughter to the screams at different times to make it really obvious that the contagion is spreading and it shows how it effects people.

From this video the group are doing masquerade style movement with a Beckett style monologue in between that talks about and explains the different rooms within the story of 'The Mask Of The Red Death'.

To develop this material I would go through the speech and pick out certain words and phrases and created short movement that represents this to do hen the words are spoken.

This video looks at another section of masquerade ball dancing which we are performing, however this time we all got given something that repulses us away from the other person. For example, one person is constantly coughing, another person is sniffing and sneezing.

The way that I would develop this material would be to introduce each one of the 'diseases' one at a time so it is gradually progressing and not all happening in one go.
