Developing the performance - PMD2

This pictures show the planned improvements that were made for the performance. Some of the ideas include things such as adding more detail to the pre-show. The reason that we decided to do this was because we have the pre-show created but we hadn't given a concept to the piece. Therefore we came up with the set of being in street. We then decided to give each cast member a role that was associated with this. For example two people were acting as if they were in a café and we also had other concepts such as walking the dog and looking in a shop window.

We then had a scene by scene breakdown that outlined everything that needed to be completed in order to make the necessary changes to the performance.

The final two pages show the monologues that each character had. I had the role of overlaying the monologues so this is what the images represent. The lines that are highlighted in purple show the moment in which the monologue would be overlaid. However this idea was disregarded because during a dress rehearsal we tried overlaying the monologues and it didn't work very well as people got confused with when they were meant to be speaking and what point of the monologues they were at.

Set Design - Finished PMD2

Here you can see the completed set design that Charlotte and I have created for the performance.

Completed Rehearsal Schedule's - PMD4

Below are the pictures of the completed rehearsal schedules.

Scene by scene run through with feedback - CKR Lesson 11

This lesson was similar to our previous lesson where we went through scene by scene and we were given suggestions for each scene to improve.

Making improvements to scenes - VDU Lesson 13

This lesson consisted of us carrying on making the amendments to the critiques that we had been given in our previous sessions. We focused specifically on the dance scene incorporating the rest of the cast into this scene to make it look more effective.

Dress Rehearsal

During this session, our group stayed on at school to have a dress rehearsal for the performance. We used costumes and we had the set design in place for this rehearsal.

Run through with feedback - VDU Lesson 12

For this rehearsal we did a complete run through from beginning to end and once this had been finished we got feedback from our tutor about things that we can work on to improve the performance.

The above list shows the notes that I took when getting feedback from our tutor so we know what we need to do to improve the performance and get it to an exceptional performance.

Refining masquerade dance - CKR Lesson 10

We spent this lesson refining over certain aspects of the performance. Our focus was the masquerade scene and looking over the dance section to verify the timing and making sure that everyone knew and was happy with the movement.

The above video shows our group as a whole going through the dance once it had been refined and learnt by everybody.

Set Design

For this performance Charlotte and I were in charge of the set design and props. Below show our ideas and structure for getting everything we needed.

This image shows all of the set deign and props we need for the scenes. Some of the stuff involves being made and others involves just being collected and bringing in.

After making a list of everything we wanted, we made a list of everything that we needed to get in order to create the set that we wanted. This is a list of everything we decided that we need to get.

This image shows you the ideas that Charlotte and I came up with and the reasons for disregarding them. An example is that we came up with the idea of using acrylic for the big masquerade mask but this didn't fit in with out budget and we were also under time constrains so therefore we disregarded the idea of using acrylic so we then used cardboard and paper mache because we had access to these materials and it was quick and easy to make.

Sorting transitions & running through whole performance (CKR Lesson 9)

This lesson has consisted of us doing a quick run through of the performance to sort out the transitions between each of the scenes.

Once we had done this we did a complete run through of the performance and we timed it. The reason for us doing this was because we needed to ensure that the performance was at the required length, which it was and alongside this is made it clear to us as performance where the gaps were within the performance so it gave us an insight into what we needed to work on to improve and sort out so there aren't any gaps for the performance itself.

Dance Development & Scheduales - VDU Lesson 11 (PMD2)

This video shows our development of the end section of the dance scene. From this video you can see the theme of disease and this is shown through each movement that represents a different concept. The movements are:

- scratching
-dropping
- puking
-coughing

The ending part of this scene shows contact work which represents the idea of us helping each other because we are struggling.
