DV8 Theatre Company - My own research
The goal/aim of their company for the creative aspect and the
rehearsal process is that it is proactive and that it brings each individual
dancers personality to the stage.
This is a good aim because it gives each individual
performer an equal opportunity as they are all working to their strengths. But
there needs to be an aim for the performance itself in order to make it an
effective piece. It is also important to use every cast member’s strengths
together because if we only focus on one strength it won’t be as successful as
we may wish it to be so we need to focus on the strengths of everybody in the
cast.
This makes the performance personal to each
individual and this can be brought to the stage and the performance and gives
it different perspectives which could create new performance possibilities.
They like to focus on more ‘shocking’ theatre.
Their production of Dead Dreams of Monochrome
Men.
They like their work to give a message that has content.
It is good to have a moral to the performance
because it makes it thought provoking and effective. However it is important that we don’t get too
focused on the message of the story and detract from the performance itself.
Taking risks is
something that I think we should use when devising because it makes the
performance more interesting and it can lead to the creation or more
performance possibilities.
They like to communicate ideas and
feelings clearly and naturally.
This is important for
us to follow because it drives the performance and it stops the cast and
audience members from getting confused because what the performance is
portraying and communicating, is obvious.
They like to focus on topics such
as freedom of speech and human rights.
Even though I didn’t get a reply
from the above email, it was sent to the theatre company in order to get a
clearer insight and understanding of how they work as a theatre company
especially because their website doesn’t state how they devise as a theatre
company or the processes that they go through.
